AED of the Month: Philips OnSite/HS1
The Philips HeartStart OnSite/HS1 AED is an FDA-approved AED and is ready to act. It allows anyone with little or no training to treat the most common cause of suspected sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) by delivering a shock quickly and effectively, wherever SCA happens. The OnSite/HS1 AED provides practically real-time guidance through step-by-step voice commands from pad placement to performing CPR. The Philips HeartStart OnSite/HS1 AED delivers a shock only after it has been advised by the device's internal analysis.

The AED is designed for indoor public spaces and home use. The device performs automatic self-tests daily of internal circuitry, battery, and pads to confirm the device is ready for use. A blinking green, "Ready" light indicates the device is in operational mode. The device features a simple on/off button and a one-piece cartridge for the pads.

The Philips AED battery is compatible with the HeartStart FRx, HeartStart OnSite, and HeartStart HS1 models. With a lifespan of up to four years in standby mode, it minimizes the need for frequent replacements, reducing maintenance costs. Over its lifetime, this high-capacity battery can deliver up to 200 lifesaving shocks or provide four hours of continuous monitoring, making it a fantastic choice for emergency situations.

Designed for simplicity, the click-and-replace installation ensures quick and hassle-free battery replacement, keeping your AED fully operational when every second counts.
The versatile Philips Smart Pads II are a two-in-one solution for adults and children. The pre-connected design shaves off valuable seconds during emergencies. The SMART Pads are "smart" because they are pre-connected, can be used for adults or children, and provide feedback to the device. A durable semi-rigid case protects the pads from dust and damage, ensuring they stay reliable. Diagrams on the pads clearly show where to place them, helping everyday heroes act quickly and confidently.

All AED pads contain an adhesive gel coating, which allows the pads to stick to the surface of the patient’s skin, and this also conducts the shock being transmitted. Due to the possibility of this adhesive gel drying out in the long term, all pads come sealed in a package and have an expiry date.

The cost of a new Philips HeartStart OnSite/HS1 AED ranges from $1849 to $2085. Consider the cost and frequency of replacement pads and batteries when evaluating AED purchase options. The Philips Smart Pads II is priced at $96 to $99 and the 4-year replacement battery is $184 to $199.
