Sudden Cardiac Arrest Reporting 2018

Was an AED on your site required and/or used at a suspected Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) recently?

Alberta Health Services would like to know when a publically accessible AED is deployed to a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) event at your site. This information is useful for determining where AEDs are being used, and the conditions that lead to successful resuscitations.

When AED use is reported, we are pleased to cover the reimbursement cost for one set of electrode pads for your AED as our thanks. A standard set of pads will cost between $45 to $190 each.

Please note that we are unable to reimburse pads for Medical First Response Agencies (i.e.: Fire Departments) and Alberta Health Services facilities. Also, this offer is not intended to cover the replacement of expired pads.

If an AED has been used at your site we encourage you to submit A Sudden Cardiac Arrest Report as soon as possible after the event has occurred.

If you can answer “YES” to all of the criteria below, please submit a report.

A person on your site was found:                                The AED on site was:

♥ Unconscious                                                                 ♥ Brought back to the collapsed person

♥ Unresponsive                                                                ♥ Turned On

♥ Not breathing                                                                ♥ Pads were applied to the person's chest

Submitting a report is quick and simple:

  1. Go online at www.heart-safe.ca , login to your Heartsafe account and click on the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Report icon
  2. Contact the PAD Administrative team directly at PAD@ahs.ca
